eVIN Phase-2 - Manpower deployment & management and capacity building of government’s staff working for cold-chain and vaccine logistics for Universal Immunization Program at state & district level in the states of Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur

In partnership with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, UNDP aims to support the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) through designing and implementing an Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) and strengthening the evidence base for improved policy-making in vaccine delivery, procurement and planning for new antigens. Integrating innovation with health care, eVIN aims to strengthen the vaccine supply chain to ensure equity in vaccine availability.
Project Description
As a result of the successful execution of phase-1 of the eVin Project, SAMS partnered with EY again in implementing UNDP’s eVIN (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network) project’s phase 2 in eight more states of India, namely, Gujarat, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur and Chhattisgarh. eVIN is a mobile and web-based application that enables real-time visibility of vaccine stocks across all vaccine storage centres encouraging effective vaccine logistics management.
As part of the project, time-bound recruitment and payrolling assistance for filling and deployment of approximately 350 senior, mid and junior level vacancies spanning both technical and support functions, was carried out.
eVIN trainings were planned, organised and executed in all districts of the implementing states. SAMS trainers conducted roughly 286 trainings covering approximately 9000 Government health personnel at the state and district levels. All logistic and administrative arrangements for these trainings were facilitated by SAMS.
These trainings were provided in the areas of Vaccine logistics management and cold chain management & stock registers, eVIN solution, Temperature logger and troubleshooting.
Organizing Training of Trainers (TOT) workshops at the state level and trainings on eVIN for all stakeholders at the state and district level were planned and organized. Refresher training sessions were also organized at regular intervals apart from ensuring training of newly positioned staff by the respective district VCCM.
